Visiting Wild Things Farm

If you would like to visit the farm we would love to see you.  Please arrange your visit in advance or come during one of our open sessions.  When you come to the farm it’s important to be aware of the following:

  • The site is developing into a working farm and part of it is a building site.  There are often associated dangers including holes in the ground, moving machinery, electric fencing and free range livestock.
  • There are also plenty of naturally occurring hazards such as stinging nettles, thistles and brambles, wasps and other insects, overhanging branches and changing weather conditions. Come prepared with appropriate clothing.  We recommend full length trousers and boots or shoes that cover your feet, as well as waterproofs.
  • The farm is at very early stages of development, so you won’t see multiple areas of thriving production yet.  This is coming though – please be patient with us!

Parking on site is very limited.  If possible, please cycle or walk up via the public footpath or along Stanton Lane from either Pensford or Stanton Drew village.

The farm address is: Wild Things Farm, Pensford Lane, Stanton Drew, Bristol BS39 4BS.  However, this is a very new address and does not yet register on sat nav!  For sat nav use the postcode BS39 4AL which takes you to Stanton Lane.

Directions from Pensford Village:

ON THE FOOTPATH – Take the Church Street turn off the A37 main road and go round to the rear of the Rising Sun pub.  Walk across the bridge over the weir and follow the footpath under the viaduct, through a kissing gate and along the river side.  Walk over a small footbridge into the next field.  You will see our noticeboard on the left after the bridge – you are now on the farm!  Follow the hedge line on the left hand side up the hill, past the two big oak trees and through the gateway on the left hand side, where you will find the barn.

ON THE ROAD – Take the Church Street turn off the A37 main road, then first left into Wick Lane and immediate right into Stanton Lane.  Follow the lane up and under the viaduct.  After 500yards you will see our gateway on the right hand side, signed ‘Wild Things Farm’.  If you start going down hill again, you’ve gone too far!

Directions from Stanton Drew Village:

ON THE FOOTPATH – Take the public footpath along the River Chew heading East. Pass Bye Mills Cottage on the river (with a bridleway crossing over) and continue along the footpath on the South side of the river. Go through one kissing gate, up woodchipped steps, and through another kissing gate.  You are now on the farm!  Follow the footpath until you see a grass track on the right, heading up towards the two big oak trees.  Just beyond the oak trees you will see a gateway and the barn beyond.

ON THE ROAD – Go through Stanton Drew village past The Druid Arms pub, and take the next left onto Upper Stanton.  Follow this road past houses and the primary school and continue up the lane for 2 miles.  We are the first gateway on the left hand side after the bridleway.  If you reach the viaduct you have gone too far!
